Four changes in team for Sunday

Our team for the league semi-final clash with Galway at Croke Park on Sunday has been named. As expected, the players rested for the Omagh trip are all restored to the starting fifteen. Conor Mortimor has also been passed fit to play. Here’s the lineup:

D Clarke; L O’Malley, J Kilcullen, K Higgins; E Devenney, BJ Padden, P Gardiner; D Heaney, P Harte; A Dillon, A Moran, A Kilcoyne; C Mortimor, G Brady, K O’Neill.

The most interesting selection here is Ger Brady at full-forward, which follows on from his promising display on the edge of the square against Tyrone. I would have expected Kevin O'Neill to be named on the forty - he's likely to end up there at some stage - but he's named to start at top of the left, with Andy Moran taking the no.11 jersey. Alan Dillon switches out to the half-forwards too, which is a more natural position for him especially with the wide open spaces of Croke Park. With the u21 semi-final coming up next weekend, Aidan Campbell has been left on the bench but I'd expect to see him come on at some stage in the proceedings. At the back, Keith Higgins and Liam O'Malley switch corners.

Now, where's my own Mayo jersey for Sunday? It's been wintering in the attic up till now but, with Croker once again calling, it's time for it to be pressed back into service. I hope it still fits.
